Thank you sir - this was extremely helpful to me as well. Mine was in worse shape than yours as far as parts being shifted around, with 2 of the white pieces gouged and the control panel out of place. I did have enough rubber feet to use (even a spare was in there) but about 8 or 9 of them had come off partially or completely. Your video gave me the courage to remove the glass and fix it. I will be calling Frigidaire to see if the worst white piece can be replaced. The price-point is attractive and I wish they had charged $10-15 more and used a decent shipping box, because after watching your video, I had already returned my first one without opening it, due to the condition of the box.
You just saved me from hours of frustration. Thank you times a million!
I just received the same unit from Home Depot. The only issue so far has been with the central large burner which is supposed to have an "Auto Sizing" feature to adjust the diameter of the magnetic burner relative to the diameter of the pot you use. With both my 12" induction ready cooking pots only a very small 4" diameter area seems to be working. I have not opened the cooktop up to check the burner feet. I wonder if that could be the cause of the malfunction?
Just received this cooktop from Amazon. The box looked pretty ruffed up like it had been on the bottom of the pile. However the cooktop showed no exterior damage. After watching your video I decided to open it up anyway to double check. What I discover was that EVERY rubber foot was out of place and the "burners" were completely smashed! Needless to say, back to Amazon it went. Thanks for the video!
Mine came in an undamaged box with plenty of extra packing. But every coil was out of place. About half of the silicone pads came off, and there were three extra floating around. You should have had a mica disc to cover that white pad. It looked like you may have had it in your hand, but I thought I'd mention it for anyone confused by why theirs looks different. Unfortunately, my display board was also floating around loose because four plastic standoffs were broken, probably by the movement of the shifting coils. That's not something fixable with glue. Glad I opened it up, but now I have to play the support or return game.
I have just bought a 30" Frigidaire cooktop (here in Canada) and the instruction manual clearly states do NOT use silicon to seal the top to the counter (I have quartz) due to requirements for heat ventilation. However I do not want spillovers of soup etc going into the unit below of the drawer below. So I shall be on the horn with Frigidaire and see what the issue is with that. At the same time the manual also mentions using the clips to attach to the quartz counter...but I have to order those from Frigidaire. We shall see.
Thank you for the tips! I truly hate Samsung my self and I did a huge experience mistake to buying all appliances from them
Thanks for saving me headaches later on so yes I did check it and yes two of the rubber feet came of the base and the middle heating plate was not even seating properly
Every burner knocked out of place. About half the rubber feet knocked out of their mounts. Easy to get back together though. Thanks for the heads up!
I was looking to switch from gas to induction, and was interested in the Samsung, but now I think I’m going with Frigidaire. My question is, how bad is the humming ? I’ve read some forums where people say they can hear the humming from the next room.
did you have any issue with the glasstop not sitting flat after install into the granite top hole? one side of mine sits up about 1/4 inch like the glass is warped, bowed. Thx Paul
THANK YOU. I found your video by chance when looking for installation instructions and popped open the glass to check. Two elements were unseated. The foil cover on the big element has a damaged tab mount. What a mess. 3 years later and Frigidaire QA still hasn't fixed this? Ridiculous.
I'm thinking about buying the same cooktop. How did you install the "L" shaped retainer brackets under the counter to secure the cook top to the counter? The instruction booklet was confusing showing the brackets but then including that you need to call them to order a granite counter top brackets.
Did it come with the big metal magnet?
I just received mine today. Opened it and found one out of place as well.
Running the large burner on 'H' or super boil excessively will eventually cause failure of the filter board. $$$. Yes, get extended warranty.
FThanks for posting this. Friends don't let friends purchase Samsung appliances. They are great with electronics but appliances are HORRIBLE. I 4ead on reviews that while you are cooking even if some water drops on the cooktop, it shuts it down. Have you experienced this. Why does this happen?
I took mine apart and they added some copper V spring under the rubber feets to alleviate this issue
Was it difficult to remove the glass top from the cooktop base?
